Fort Mill property questions
Who handles the utility issue
and the water damage?
A Fort Mill address alone does not identify your water or sewer utility. The Town’s Utilities page lists both town-served properties and subdivisions served by York County. Check your utility bill or the official guidance before reporting a suspected public-system problem.
Town customers can use Fort Mill Utilities’ water and sewer reporting instructions. For drainage concerns, the Town’s reporting page separates stormwater issues from water and sewer problems. Reporting a utility issue and arranging cleanup inside a home are separate steps.
Use an address-specific flood map.
York County’s GIS guidance links to One Map for FEMA floodplain lookup. Check the property itself; a town name or the map above cannot establish its flood status. Follow local safety directions and do not cross floodwater to reach the home.
What to document for your insurance conversation
Save safely taken photos, written estimates and receipts. Tell your insurer how the water entered. South Carolina DOI explains that ordinary homeowners insurance typically excludes flooding; review its flood-insurance guidance and ask your insurer about your specific policy.
