What affects a restoration quote?

Compare the scope before comparing totals.

Two estimates can describe very different work. One may cover water removal alone; another may include drying equipment, monitoring, material disposal and repairs. Ask each provider to identify those stages separately.

Your provider sets the price after discussing or assessing the damage. Confirm the visit fee, any minimum charge and what a written estimate covers before agreeing to an appointment.

Six line items worth understanding

• Assessment and minimum chargesAsk whether a visit, after-hours attendance or initial assessment has a fee, even if you decline further work.
• Water removalAsk what rooms and materials are included and whether access or contamination changes the method.
• Material removal and disposalConfirm what will be removed, why, and how disposal is charged.
• Drying equipmentAsk about equipment quantity, operating period, electricity and any extension charges.
• Monitoring and completion recordsAsk how progress will be checked and what record you receive at completion.
• Rebuilding and source repairConfirm whether plumbing, roofing, drywall, painting or flooring is excluded or quoted separately.

Hidden damage can affect a plan. Before authorizing work, ask who may approve additions, whether you will receive an updated written estimate, and how unexpected charges are handled.
